Literacy Coach / Director of Rigor

The Literacy Coach is part of the leadership team and is responsible for helping all teachers teach reading. This coach will work closely with the principal to observe, provide feedback, develop professional development, and analyze data to ensure that all children are making substantial gains in reading.

COMPENSATION

We offer a generous compensation package ($55-80K) including benefits.

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT & INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP

  • Assume personal responsibility for the literacy advancements of all students.

  • Conduct deep analysis of data in order to lead effective analysis meetings with teachers

  • Create grade level action plans and materials to address data.

  • Execute data meetings based on student work samples.

  • Monitor grade-level progress against assessment cycle benchmarks.

STAFF DEVELOPMENT & EVALUATION

  • Provide real-time feedback to teachers during instruction.

  • Contribute to teachers’ evaluations.

  • Plan and deliver high-quality professional development that trains staff to effectively incorporate literacy strategies in their work.

  • Plan and execute team meetings for grade-level or content-area staff

  • Build professional relationships with teachers that help in their development

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND & WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred.

  • Certification or degree in literacy

  • At least 3 years teaching.
